Many people may not know what the counseling department actually does on campus, but one of the major things they work on is character development. Ms. Biedel is one of the two counselors at our school, and she encourages the students here at AOMS to be their better selves. We encourage students to try their hardest and we encourage students to learn from their mistakes.”  However, you may be thinking, how does character development fit in with our academic life? Academically it helps students feel stronger in who they are, more confident.” But sometimes even when we feel so sure we are going to ace that test, we don’t. And we just need to understand that we are not going to overcome every single obstacle thrown our way. No one is ever perfect and so just understanding that we could learn from those mistakes and become a better version of ourselves.” Each day, we all develop our character unconsciously. Yet, you decide what you develop your own character into. It’s basically who we’re known for, what we’re known about, what we do, is who we are.” Ms. Biedel wants us to know that we all should be working to make ourselves a better person than we were yesterday. “Everyday you should be working on what you want to be remembered as, and what you want to be known as.” Our great counselors are always here to hear how your day’s going whether it’s good or bad.
